To Kim Urban who has brought together each week the Hive Happenings email column for Boosters. What might seem like an easy volunteer job is not! Her tireless efforts each week to bring recognition to MHS athletes is much appreciated and will be missed. Thank you Kim - you are the Queen of Battling Bee spirit!!

 

Congratulations to all our “State” qualifying athletes . . .


- GIRLS VARSITY LACROSSE - "2010 DIVISION I STATE CHAMPIONS"!

Lady Bees defeated Upper Arlington at their home field 15-9 to win championship.

First state title in school's history - Record 21-0 - Way to go Lady Bees!

 

   Members of the 2010 Championship Team include:  Christina Haston, Katherine

   Doraty, Kathleen Herrmann, Claire Beadle, Kelsey Phillips, Dev King, Ellie

   Hudson-Heck, Theresa Wolfgang, Kelsey Shewbridge, Jami Bennett, Megan

   Wolfgang, Katie Keefe, Nikki Boltja, Marissa McHugh,  Sydney Thomas,

   Sierra Thomas, Carrie Kubasta, Jess Dalton, Amanda Getto, Kayla Frisco,

   Angela Tesny, Erin Stacho, Rachel Letts & Allie Snyder.

   

- TAYLOR BURKE - "2010 DIVISION I GIRLS HIGH JUMP STATE CHAMPION"!

Burke becomes first Medina County female to become a multiple-year state champion. Junior jumped a personal best 5 feet, 11 inches, bettering her previous state outdoor record of 5'9". She was also the Gazette's "Prep Athlete of the Week." 

 

- NIKKI BOLTJA - "2010 OFFENSIVE MVP FOR D-I LAX CHAMPIONSHIP GAME"! Boltja scored 7 goals and dished out 3 assists during the championship game.

 

- MEDINA GIRLS TRACK - "THIRD PLACE AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET” Six Lady Bees racked up 31 points - the most in Medina Co. history by girls team - to share   bronze with Midpark.

 

- ALEX WASIK - "SECOND PLACE IN POLE VAULT AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"! Wasik jumped a personal-best 11 feet, 8 inches to tie for second place.

 

- ANNA BOYERT - "SECOND PLACE IN 1600M RUN AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"! Boyert broke the school record finishing in 4:54.29 to take silver. Sophomore also placed tenth in the 800m run.

 

GIRLS 4X800 RELAY TEAM - "THIRD PLACE AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"!  (JILLIAN GRAFF, TAYLOR WICKEY, ALEXIS SMITH & ANNA BOYERT) Foursome clocked a 9:14.64 setting a new school record to earn bronze.

 

- DAVID KNACK - "FIFTH PLACE IN 3200M RUN AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"!

Junior Knack ran the two-mile in 9:23.67 to take fifth place.

 

- EVAN McKEE - "SEVENTH PLACE IN 800M RUN AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET" 

Senior made his third trip to state this year qualifying in three different sports - Cross Country, Swimming, & Track - and ran a 1:55.07 to place 7th.

 

- BOYS 4X400 RELAY TEAM - "NINTH PLACE AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"!(LATERIAN BROWN, MALIK TUCK, HUNTER HEATON & EVAN McKEE)

 

- CLAY FEBUS - "TENTH PLACE IN 300m HURDLES AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"!

 

- BOYS 4X800 RELAY TEAM - "12TH PLACE AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"!

(EVAN McKEE, ROBERT ROBINSON, DAVID KNACK & HUNTER HEATON)

 

- HUNTER HEATON - "12TH PLACE IN 800m RUN AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET"!

 

- MALIK TUCK - "12TH PLACE IN 200m DASH AT D-I STATE TRACK MEET”!


- PAT O'BRIEN (BOYS VARSITY LAX HEAD COACH) - VOTED BY HIS PEERS -

  THE OHIO DIVISION I "COACH OF THE YEAR"!

 

- BOY'S VARSITY LAX - MADE THE 2010 "FINAL FOUR" & FINISHED 3RD IN STATE!

2010 Season Record: (15-2)  Members of the 2010 Final Four LAX Team Roster include: Connor McBride, Ray Theiss, Collin McMannis, Jared Ross, Alex Schell, Nate Blue, Matt Crowley, Kevin Schulte, James Dahlheimer, Steve Reed, Andrew Willse, Hogan Harris, Jake Muniak, Justin Riccelli, Tim Viancourt, Alex Harris, Andrew Harris, Cole Giordon, Andrew Lohner, Dan Flake, Chris Summers, Andrew Cavanaugh, Alec Sulesky, Jack Wesner, Tyler Galosi, Andrew Dorman, Mitch Doraty & Joey Kren.

 

Congratulations once again to all our spring sports athletes for making the 2010 season at MHS one of its BEST!!!

Medina Work To Play Program Offers Athletes Chance to Earn Money

Medina Work To Play program for local businesses and community members submitting small jobs for athletes to work for pay has begun. For details, if you are a student, visit www.medinaboosters.com and click on the “medina work to play” option on the left.

Next Booster Meeting, 7 pm, Mon., Aug. 9 in Distance Learning Lab

No July meeting will be held, with regular monthly meeting resuming in August. Have a great summer!
